What to Expect at Solid Rock

Our Sunday Worship Celebrations are typically approximately 90 minutes in length. Solid Rock Café on Wednesday evenings begins at 6:30PM and typically lasts until 8:00PM. Our Worship Celebration Service begins with a time of worship that is led by our worship band.

Our band features excellent musicians and vocalists who cover a wide range of musical styles all intended to lead us in expressing our love for God. Lyrics to all of the songs are projected on large screens in the auditorium for everyone to join in. We create a safe atmosphere in which everyone can feel free to sing, clap our hands, close our eyes, lift our hands, or just allow our imagination to connect to God in a very real and personal way. Our service culminates with a time of learning through a sermon from our Pastor.

This is an opportunity for us to study the Bible together and make application of its truths to the way we live. Everyone receives a printed outline with fill-in-the-blanks so that we can follow along and keep the material as a way for self-study throughout the week. We use sharp visuals and media to reinforce the main themes of the sermon.

We conclude our time together with prayer. We allow an opportunity for anyone to begin a brand new relationship with God. We also make ourselves available to pray one-on-one with anyone who needs some support and encouragement.

When you come to Solid Rock you will quickly find a warm, friendly group of people committed to making church exciting, LIFE-giving and enjoyable. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be accepted with a smile, a handshake, and a personalized name tag so we can get to know you on a first-name basis. Our team of volunteer hosts is dispersed throughout our campus to make sure all of your questions are answered.

Come comfortably dressed, whether that means suit and tie or jeans and T-shirt. Feel free to leave your formal gown and tuxedo at home. We are committed to being relaxed and comfy around here!

Pastor Jay Bailey is a man who loves God and loves people. He is a husband and father of five amazing children. His energy and enthusiasm for life is contagious and refreshing.

Also, Pastor Jay has the BEST ACCENT. Seriously, he’s Jamaican-born, Canadian-educated, a former professional tennis player, AND a graduate of UGA. That’s worth a visit in and of itself!

Plan to arrive about 20 minutes early if you have kids. That way you’ll have plenty of time to check-in your kids at our nursery/children welcome kiosk, grab a bulletin, and make your way to a comfortable seat before our Celebration begins. Our volunteer hosts are ready to assist you with getting your children to their special area.

You’ll fit right in here. It is never our intention that you would feel out of place in any way whatsoever. We have a down-to-earth team of volunteer hosts to help you find your way easily about our campus. We are careful to be warm and friendly without being nosy or intrusive.

Many of us also come from a background that did not include much experience in a church. We use those experiences to make everyone feel safe and connected to all that we do.

What we Believe

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

All believers receive the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God) when they receive Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives at salvation. However, believers are also entitled to and should expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe this was the normal experience of Christ followers in the early Christian Church. With the Holy Spirit baptism comes power for life and service.

The Bible is God’s Word to us. Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we repent of sin, confess Jesus as Lord, and turn from our self-ruled life, we are saved.

The blessed hope of the church is the rapture or the “catching away” of the church. The Bible teaches that at the time of the rapture of the church, living Christians will be changed; those whom have died in Christ will be raised in glory; all Christians will forever be with the Lord, and we should be comforted with this truth.

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. We are affiliated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Currently the Assemblies of God USA and Assemblies of God organizations around the world make up the world’s largest Pentecostal fellowship with some 51 million adherents.
